Just Capital at London Club
Posted: 12th July 2008
Well my endeavours to keep up to date with my blogs is going as well as my promise to myself to hit a few more low scores, but after an amazing final round at the London Club yesterday I thought it about time I put a few thoughts down on paper again.
Ross Fisher made the game look very easy in hitting 16 greens to cruise to victory and put himself in line to make the Ryder cup team, on a day so windy even the Jockey, bib fitted with safety pins for a tighter fit, spray on vest and all those muscles to boot , nearly blew off the side of Kent's highest hillside, other wise known as the London Club. My two-under-par round of 70 was pretty special considering it only included 21 putts. On another day it could have been 78, but that's what tournament golf is all about and 17th place was certainly very welcome after missing the cut in France.
A brief synopsis of the last three weeks would be a disappointing finish in Germany at one of my favourite venues when a terrible last day left me well down the field was followed up by a missed cut in france, largely due to an eight on the shortest hole on the course on Friday. Funnily enough, when I had managed to get my ball on the green after about twenty minutes of losing balls, hitting provisional balls and all sorts, the Jockey said keep your chin up, this could still be a great six, to which I replied, it really would be considering we are putting for seven.
The London Club proved to be a good venue on the whole with good galleries coming to brave the elements and a local lad taking the spoils certainly helped to keep some excitement over the last few holes. Ross is proving to be a top quality player in no time and he is one of the nicest guys on tour so good luck to him.
As for me it is off to Loch Lomond this week, for the Barclays Scottish Open, let's hope the rain stays away for once.
