Of Cats, Caddies and Low Scoring

Well I can’t believe it but the winter break has passed on by and already I have played my first tournament of the New Year. I had one task to complete in my month off in Dubai and that was to write a blog, which somehow was beyond me, oh and replace a screw on the kitchen drawer. You guessed it that did not get done either.
I don’t know what happened to the time really, a bit of gym work a bit of golf with friends, a few drinks with friends and hey presto the new year is upon us. Unbelievable. At least I got to spend some quality time with the wife, which is great. Mostly this is spent with... MORE »

Two more tournaments have passed by in a flash with a week off spent in Dubai sandwiched in the middle as the Far East swing gets underway. Valderrama was the venue for the first of those, one of my favourite venues in Europe and it did not let me down with a much needed weekends work. More of that later, first I had to get there which was a tale in itself.
As mentioned in the last blog I stayed with Raymondo for the tournament near Castellon and although I had a flight booked on Monday morning the news that Dad was going to drive the 910km to Valderrama left me with little choice but to bin my flight and go on a... MORE »

I played Club de Campo del Mediterraneo when I was twelve years old with Raymondo on our first family holiday to the area. It's set in a crater up in the hills, it was stinking hot, like a couple of idiots we took no water, hence we nearly collapsed as we played the last hole. That’s as good a day as I have had on Sergio Garcia's home course to this day.
Another missed cut then to add to all the others over the summer and this one really was a disappointment as I really feel like I am much more in control of my game. It has to be said though that on Thursday that was not the... MORE »

Seven more days of sunshine, another blog written and finally a weekends work as well. In many ways a good week I guess if not exactly one to write home about, which strangely is exactly what I am doing right now of course since I have vowed to keep this website updated by my own hand in good time from now on for ever and ever. Well at least until the next missed cut anyway.
The Portugal Masters at the Oceanico Victoria course near Vilamoura was our venue this week and very pleasant it was too. With a beautiful hotel on site (Tivoli Victoria for anyone fancying a break) a smattering of ex-pats and holiday makers in fine spirits creating a... MORE »
Say Hello and Say Goodbye

Crikey, I really have let down my visitors to this site over the last six months and for that I sincerely apologise. No writing for so many months is not what I had planned but golfwise, there has not been much good to speak of!
I guess an overview of that time would be the best way to begin…
The small amount of momentum that I had gained at the start of the year in the Middle East came to a crashing halt, when the momentum that I had created whilst running to catch a Frisbee on the beach in Dubai continued through my left ankle whilst the rest of me stopped. Result? An ankle sprain and two months off.
In the... MORE »
