So near and yet so far at Turnberry left us still chasing our first major championship.
It looked like a grand slam title was there for the taking as one after another of our clients continued to show they are made of the right stuff when the rough gets tough as it did on the south west coast of Scotland.
Lee Westwood, one of the world's most consistent performers over the last two years, went closest of all finishing, like he did at last year's US Open, one shot out of the play-off. Lee's time is not far away, however. If there is any justice at all, he will claim his first major very soon and, like Nick Price before him, peak in his mid to late thirties.
Chris Wood may not have been as disappointed as Lee in not claiming the top prize, but what a bonus he received for finishing third. The Bristolian will tee up at Augusta next year thanks to his magnificent performance in only his second major, his first as a professional. He also finished in the top 10 when he was an amateur at Royal Birkdale where he claimed the Silver Medal.
No doubt Ernie Els felt a little disappointed by getting so close to contention on the fantastic links of Ayrshire, but his top 10 finish was surely the sign that he is ready to knock off a few more of the game's top prizes in the near future.
Thomas Aiken once again showed that he is destined to be a major force in golf by completing our quartet of top 10 players while no fewer than 11 of our 15 entrants - unfortunately Jeev Milkha Singh was a late withdrawal through injury - played all four days.
All in all, it was a very good week for ISM and was surely the sign of things to come. The spirit in the camp was shown every night by the number of players who came to the hub house for dinner. It also says a lot for Posh's cooking.
The next big tournaments are at Akron for the Bridgestone event and then the week after for the last of the summer's majors. Don't bet against us at either because we'll have runners with very good form lines at both events.
Finally, congratulations to Freddie Flintoff. The bowling honours board at Lords wouldn't feel right without his name on it.. and he finally got his first five-wicket haul there in his last Test at the home of cricket.
